Le roi Uther Pendragon reçoit de Merlin l'Enchanteur l'épée Excalibur, avec laquelle il doit unifier la terre. Mais sa passion pour Ygraine, l'épouse du duc de Cornouailles, ruine les espoirs de paix de Merlin.
